Mentoring for therapists and counsellors setting up private practice

My support is created with neurodivergent therapists in mind, but is open to everyone. I help you set up your private practice in a way that works with your energy, your brain and your nervous system, so you end up with a business that works for you.

Setting up private practice can feel incredibly overwhelming. Counselling courses teach us how to do therapy, not how to set up and run a private practice; so we know how to be a therapist, not how to be a business owner! And with so many things to think about and decide, it can be difficult to know where to start, what to do and how to do it.

That’s where mentoring comes in!

If you want personalised, 1-1 guidance and accountability from another therapist who’s been where you are and gets it, mentoring could be for you. Not an influx of replies in a Facebook group or AI responses that you’re not sure you can trust, but direct support tailored to you.

What are some things mentoring help with?

Developing a marketing plan that works for you - a strategy that feels sustainable

Creating and managing effective admin and finance systems

Figuring out what is / isn’t working - are you not getting enquiries? or are you getting enquiries but clients don’t reply to your session offer? We’ll look at what stage of your client journey isn’t working the way you want, and what to do about it

Understanding different options for things like cancellation policies and fee structures

Writing your website and directory profiles to engage clients and sound like the unique therapist you are

Identifying and communicating your niche, deciding if you even want one, and different ways to think about this (spoiler alert: it does’t have to just be about what issues you work with!)

Thinking through what else you might want to offer beyond 1:1 therapy in the future, and keeping these in mind as you set up

One of the things that lights me up is helping people bring their ideas to life, and I’m so excited to work with you to set up an awesome private practice! Ready to jump in?

What’s included?

▸ Structured guidance and support tailored to your needs and your practice

▸ Insight into running a GDPR-compliant and streamlined practice that lets you spend as little time on admin as possible (my practice is paper-free, but I can also advise on having a paper-based practice)

▸ I won’t tell you what to do, but I will share my honest, personal experience of what's worked and what hasn't in my practice, as well as what I've learned in my networks and the therapy community more widely

▸ If relevant for who you work with, advice on setting up an affirming practice for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent clients

We’ll work within an adaptable, framework that includes the following elements.

*Goals and ideas*

To help you identify what you want to do and how you do it, so your practice aligns with your values and doesn’t burn you out.

*Action Plan*

To create tangible steps to successfully and efficiently reach your goals and help your practice take shape.

*Accountability*

To help with your focus and motivation, I offer an encouraging, supportive and collaborative space.

Session practicalities

Sessions are one hour and will take place online. We can meet every week, fortnightly or monthly, this is up to you. I also have some flexibility to be able to offer sessions at different times if the same day/time wouldn't work with your schedule.

If booking three sessions, they have to be taken within 3 months.

Cost

I offer a free 15 minute chat for you to ask questions about what I am offering and see if it aligns with what you're looking for before booking in any sessions.

After this, you have the option to book one session (£80 – £90) or three sessions (£225 – £255). This is on a self-selecting sliding scale, which you can read more about on my rates page. Three sessions can be paid for in instalments if needed.

I offer a number of lower cost mentoring sessions to queer and trans therapists and therapists of colour, as these communities are underrepresented in the field.

Next steps

Whatever stage of your counselling journey you're at - whether you're about to qualify, newly qualified, or have been working in an employed role and now feel ready to  set up private practice - get in touch if you feel 1:1 mentoring would be helpful.

You can email me to book a free 15 minute chat or if you feel you’ve gotten enough information from my website and are ready to get started, you can also book in one or more sessions right away.
