Neurodivergent Therapy

I provide one to one therapy for neurodivergent adults, online and in-person in north London.

Neurodivergent describes anyone whose mind or functioning diverges from dominant norms, expectations and standards in society. My experience is primarily with ADHD, Autistic and AuDHD folks, but all neurodivergent individuals are welcome to get in touch.

Being neurodiversity affirming means that I do not see divergence as a flaw or something that needs to be fixed and don’t view you as having ‘a disorder’. I reject all forms of compliance-based practices for neurodivergent folks such as Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and positive behavioural support (PBS), which view neurodivergent ways of being as a deficit and something to train oneself out of. I adopt the social model of disability, understanding that as society tends not to accommodate neurodivergent experiences, your neurodivergence might be disabling.

Some of the issues I can support with include:

  • Understanding the impact of your neurodivergence

  • Making sense of your experiences in childhood and adulthood through a neurodivergent lens

  • Exploring the intersections of neurodivergence and other parts of your identity

  • Self-esteem and confidence

  • Self-acceptance

  • Bullying

  • Exploring whether you want to pursue a diagnosis or medication

  • Being diagnosed later in life

  • How to navigate neurodivergent relationships

You might be coming to counselling specifically for issues relating to your neurodivergence, or perhaps you see the difficulties you want to address as unrelated, but want a neurodivergent-friendly therapist. Whatever you’re seeking therapy for, if you’re looking for a neurodivergent counsellor, get in touch to arrange an initial session.
